Castle Madness

Challenges with Castle building

Designing something, is like a fresh page from a sketchbook. I was unsure where to start. I just kept making new mini projects over and over, I also didn't know when to stop.  I could have become really obsessive making a lot of small details if didn't I keep restarting. I also did not use the loft command so here is a simple tutorial of how to loft in case you forget. ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNWf7URrnl8 )

I had a weird issue with Gridsnap midway through some of my attempts. I couldnt line up some of my shapes with other ones when trying to fit them together after resizing.

Is there a way to automatically snap edges of a shape together even if they are different sizes?

Is there a way to add more to a shape, when using gumbal and stretching(with the blue and green arrows) It adds area to both ends you are stretching. (the way I did it was to create another shape and boolean them together. Is there an easyier way?

I was unsure of how to start the project, so I started with some image gathering.

I laid down some curves into a simple composition and extruded each one separately till I had an interesting composition
I started adding and subtracting piece, adding elements that felt "castle-like"

I used the poly-line tool to make a bunch of boxes.  I found that  I needed grid snap on, and the Gumball feature(located on the bottom bar on the rhino program) I Extruded the curve by typing extrudeCrv into the top bar.

BooleanUnion / BooleanDifference were the commands used to remove and add extra sections to each area.

Finished product

A more modern castle!!!
